3DVIA Shape 2.0 – easily create 3D models

3DVIA Shape Beta 2.0 is a free of charge application developed by Dassault Systemes that helps users create 3D models fast and easy.  With the help of the tools offered by the program, you can draw everything from simple shapes like circles or rectangles to more complex elements.

After designing the basic lines, you can use the Push n Pull and Manipulate tools in order to shape the 3D models. 3DVIA Shape supplies a set of textures for you to apply on your objects. If those aren’t enough, you are able to create your own textures by using existing images. After creating the elements, set their position in the scene by using Manipulate again.

3DVIA Shape 2.0 features:

• Easily build accurate models – Design 3D models in the right proportions with 3DVIA Shape’s measurement tools. Measure models with ease in meters or feet as you create them.
• Remix – Use models that already exist on 3DVIA.com as a base to start your design, or add models into your current scene to create a 3D environment.
• Paint models – Bring your models to life by adding color or textures. Choose colors or photorealistic textures, such as wood, tile or glass, from the 3DVIA Shape paint library and apply them to your model, or upload your own.
• Share Models Online – Publish finished models directly to 3DVIA.com. Receive feedback and improve your skills!

At first, it might seem difficult to get around in 3DVIA Shape, so I suggest you watch the tutorial at the opening of the application. In order to use this freeware you must register (for free) for an account on their website. That’s not too bad, considering you are able to publish your models instantly, so everyone can view them.
