Pixelformer – create and edit icons

Pixelformer is a freeware application that fulfills the role of an advanced icon editor; it was designed to give you full control over every pixel of your images. With its features like subpixel precision you are able to create professional looking icons and quality bitmaps.

With Pixelformer 0.8.2.1 you can edit anything from icons and images to mouse cursors. These can also be extracted from ICL icon libraries. You can also create icons using large image files that can be resized when they are exported.

For editing you have a rich set of tools at your disposal, one of the most interesting being Magic Wand, which lets you select and apply the outline of different entities as a layer.

Use Pixelformer to modify the default icons in Windows. Do this by using the Import option from the File menu. Open the WINDOWSsystem32SHELL32.dll file, choose an icon and start editing!
